The Forta range contains duplex and other high strength stainless steels, with a yield strength of typically minimum 400 MPa, that enable thinner structures and weight reduction. Table 1 shows the entire range with the three parts. Duplex steels (proof strength R p0.2 > 400 MPa), PRE 26 to 43.

This publication presents the properties of LDX 2101®, 2304, LDX 2404®, 2205 and 2507. The properties of 4501 is in general terms very similar to those of 2507. Grade 4501 is delivered if specified. In this data sheet only data for 2507 is given. Chemical composition The typical chemical compositions of Outokumpu grades are shown in Table 1.

The high chromium content of duplex stainless steels that protects against corrosion, causes embrittlement at temperatures over about 300°C. At low temperatures duplex stainless steels have better ductility than the ferritic and martensitic grades. Duplex grades can readily be used down to at least -50°C.

1.4462 (2205) Sheet and Plate. Duplex stainless steels are extremely corrosion resistant, work hardenable alloys. Their microstructures consist of a mixture of austenite and ferrite phases. Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel (1.4462) corrosion resistance is superior to Grade 316 in most environments. Heat treatment of Duplex SS 2205 is solution treatment (annealing), between 1020 – 1100°C, followed by rapid cooling. 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel (2205 Duplex) cannot be hardened by heat treatment. They can, however, be work hardened.

2205 Duplex Overview. Duplex 2205 is a nitrogen enhanced duplex stainless steel that was developed to combat common corrosion problems encountered with the 300 series stainless steels. “Duplex” describes a family of stainless steels that are neither fully austenitic, like 304 stainless, nor purely ferritic, like 430 stainless.
