A down side to sill seal under interior walls is that for many it is SOP to glue interior wall bottom plates to the subfloor to prevent floor squeaks caused by flex in the subfloor in combination with nails used to hold the walls to the floor system. Obviously installing the foam is not compatible with the bottom plate glue process.

2011. 3. 24. · Is it benefitial to use construction adhesive on the treated bottom plate when I frame my basement? I bought some 50' rolls of sill 3.5" foam to put under the bottom plate as I thought that would help keep the plate from rotting over time. If I use that though it'd be pointless to use the construction adhesive.

I just noticed the sill sealer has ridges on one side and flat on the other. Should the ridges face up (towards the bottom plate) or down (towards the concrete floor)?

2 or 3 (3/8") thick lines laid down under the sill seal can fill those. When placing the seal over anchor bolts I found that a small x-slit allows it to slide 

Some builders say that you can use a sill gasket in conjunction with a regular, non-pressure treated pine or fir bottom plates.

2017. 4. 14. · Hi guys, I've been looking to buy some EPDM sill sealer/gaskets to put on top on my steel joists and under my bottom plate. I know Conservation Technology is a place to buy these, but shipping is super expensive and they offer no photos of the product.

The best place to caulk the sill is from inside the basement or crawl space. The sill plate is just above the top of the foundation wall, and you'll find a concrete ledge, about 2 1/2 inches wide, before reaching the sill plate. The crease between this ledge and the edge of the sill plate is the best place to apply the sealant.
